“Paul’s Case” question #5

5. Q: Is Paul a static or developing character? If the latter, at what point does he change? Why?

A: Paul is a developing character. The point at which Paul changes is right before he gets hit by the train. He realizes that he could have been that guy conducting business from a boat on the Adriatic Sea. He finds out that he could have been the person he wanted to be, to have all that money and live the lifestyle he wanted to live. At the last second of his life he realizes that he had a chance to have all that he ever wanted.
